HTML Meta Tags That Rock!

The tool I’m introducing today is the Meta Tag. Meta Tags are embedded in web pages and describe the page for Search Engines but are invisible to human visitors. They allow you to define the:

  • Page Title
  • Description and
  • Keywords

When you type a search phrase, the entries that come back in the Google list show these Meta tags. Most websites don’t bother to fill them in. Therefore, Google shows some random lines from the page instead. For instance here’s one cryptic entry that I found:

Dismissing fairly

eg dismissal of an employee who was taken on as a temporary replacement for an employee on maternity leave. However, for such a dismissal to be fair,

I don’t think that I’d click on this description; it’s just not very compelling!

Much better to write your Meta tags the same way that you’d write an advert. If the searcher typed in Employee Dismissal imagine how powerful this might be:

Adding Your Blog To Technorati

HR472JABF5QT

It’s all very well setting up a blog that tells the world about your great services. But you need to announce the blog to the world so that people can find it. The biggest blog directory on the internet is http://technorati.com/ Create an account and then enter the details for your blogs.

There is a verification process that ensures that you are the blog owner. It’s very simple and straightforward. Technorati gives you a unique code which you post on your website. In my case the code is given below:

HR472JABF5QT

Post the code and then press the verify button in your Technorati account. You’re then done and your blog is now in the directory.

Which Keyword Analysis Tool?

I develop business websites and blogs for consultants, coaches and professional service providers. One thing I get asked all the time is how can my website Attract New Clients?

Well really it’s no different to any other marketing. The fundamental question is where does my market hang out? and how can I get my targetted message in front of them? The video below shows you how to connect your website to the market and then afterwards, I take you through the process of Keyword Analysis and which tool to use.

Website design always starts with keyword analysis so that you can tap into the most lucrative target markets. Basically, carry out the following steps:

  1. Start with Google and ask “what keyword phrase would my perfect customer type in?”
  2. Then dig down and check out all the related phrases and synonyms
  3. Now find the keyword phrases that have a high number of daily searches but not too many competing pages
  4. Now write your pages to address the best niche search phrases. Include the keyword phrase in the article heading, page title, meta tags and body

So for instance:

  • I have a client who does performance management coaching for small businesses. During the analysis I discover the phrase “Time Management Strategies” which has 145 daily searches, 56,100 pages mention the phrase and 3,230 pages have the phrase in the title.
  • On the other hand, another client provides HR outsourcing services. This time the phrase “Human Resources Job Descriptions” has 891 daily searches and 6,670 competing pages (but careful the singular has only 144 daily searches)

In both cases, a good strategy would be to write an article with these titles and then watch your web page climb the google rankings.

Finally, you want to know which tool should you use for conducting this analysis. The answer is straightforward, who has the most reliable data? and of course the answer is Google. Therefore, you can either take out a free account with Google and use their own keyword analysis tool or use other tools that rely on Google’s own database, such as Market Samurai.

Does Google Leave You In The Dark?

I don’t know about you, but so much of Google just leaves me in the Dark. For instance, I sign up for a new Google tool and I can’t see it along with all my other tools. I come back the next day and mysteriously, it’s now there!

Then again, look at their quality score for advertisers, it doesn’t seem much, they hardly explain how it works. But it makes an enormous difference to your “pay per click” costs.

Obviously, they try and keep you in the dark so that spammers can’t exploit their methods to create high rankings for irrelevant sites and I don’t think this is ever likely to change.

Instead, run your mouse over the above picture to help you feel in control of High and Mighty Google! Become the puppet master for a change.

I’m going to be brief

As you’ll know, Commission Blueprint 2.0 went live last week and so far the feedback and reports from those who have been lucky enough to get a spot have been nothing short of incredible…

I should know, I grabbed a copy and the material is truly amazing. It teaches you everything you need to know about selling other people’s products online.

Anyway, don’t miss out:

BSc (Hons) in Internet Marketing

I’ll let you into a secret …

In good years we bring in £1m of sales, in bad years, like last year, we still did £536k.  But without the internet we’d do nothing.

You see my whole innovation business relies on the internet for:

  • Secondary market research
  • Technology brokering
  • Participant recruitment
  • Online surveys
  • New customer recruitment for our services
  • Relationship building

and so on….

However a few years ago, our internet skills were very hit and miss.  I couldn’t get predictable results.

And then I discovered Commission Blueprint.  Steve Clayton and Tim Godfrey showed me how to:

  • conduct keyword research
  • find market niches
  • develop converting websites
  • conduct search engine optimisation
  • conduct pay per click advertising

Based on their advice we even launched some new internet businesses that sell other peoples’ products.

It’s no big shake yet but they do bring in a comfortable amount that pays our rent in a high tech technology park.

Well Tim and Steve have done it again.  They’ve completely updated their training programme and included a whole load of new tools and materials.

Check out:

Again I have just bought the updated programme and really the term Commission Blueprint is a misnomer.  Yes it helped us set up some side-businesses that frankly have allowed us to survive the recession BUT, more importantly, it taught us the principles of internet marketing and is core to our business.

Now this is not for everyone, it’s not cheap and it’s not a get rich quick scheme.  Instead it’s a solid training course teaching the application of universal marketing principals to the internet.  It will take dedication and hard work to realise its full potential but your business will not look back.

Developing my first product was a complete disaster!

When I first started internet marketing, I was really hung up about developing my own product. I sweated blood and tears and created what I thought was a damn good product. But then disaster, I couldn’t sell it over the internet – there was no market!

My first breakthrough happened completely in reverse. Instead of creating a product first:

  1. I found a market
  2. Built a list
  3. and then I asked them what they wanted

Strangely, I never did create a product, because I sold them someone else’s product that met their requirements and earned 60% commission in the process. I just sat back and watched the commission checks roll in … It was pretty miraculous.

Nowadays, after going through Michael Jones’s course, I don’t even look for a market. I now start with a good selling product that already has a guaranteed market.

The challenge is then to OUT-MARKET the competition so that you make money after paying your marketing costs.

Michael Jones includes a spreadsheet profit calculator to make sure that you recoup your full marketing costs before you even start.

I tried so hard my head fell off…

If you’re like me, your head is probably starting to spin with the zillions of internet marketing techniques out there.  Are you starting to make headway or yet to make sense of it all?

For me, there was a lot to get to grips with when I was starting out but a lesson I learnt early on was to develop a relationship with your customers.

You pay all this money through pay per click (PPC) or other search engine optimisation tactics to get a visitor to your site, they come and visit but they’re not ready to buy anything.  They just want to do a bit of research and move on quickly, they click away and you’ve lost them for good. Can you start earning internet money in 15 mins?

Now some people have asked me, how soon can they start making money online? Well you could do it in as little as 15 mins. Certainly, the quickest way would be the following steps:

  1. Go to www.Clickbank.com and set up a Clickbank account
  2. Pick an affiliate product from the Clickbank marketplace (check out the commissions which typically are about 60% – not bad if the product is around $100)
  3. Get an affiliate link for your chosen product with your Clickbank account name embedded in the link
  4. Go to Google Adwords, set up an advert against some relevant keywords. Use your Clickbank affiliate link inside the advert as the destination URL

earn-easy-money-online

Now sit back and wait for the wonga to roll in! All with no website and no customer list. What could be easier?

Well quite a lot really …

You see although it might be technically possible to make money in record time with the above steps. You’d have to be either very lucky or truly expert to pull off this stunt.

If you do lack the experience? then you’d probably pick the wrong market, wrong product, get the advert and keywords wrong and end up wasting a ton of money on Google Adwords!

The simplest way to getting it right is to follow a step by step course, such as Michael Jones’ Clickbank code, check it out at:

Autopilot Lead Generation for Professional Services

In this recession, we’re all having to work harder than ever before to win customers. I think the most frustrating element isn’t getting a rejection, but endless delays and procrastination from the customer.

Of course, it’s understandable – budgets are tight and there are just so many more stakeholders involved in any purchasing decision. But how do you stop yourself from going insane with all the chasing and waiting?

In my case, I use my lead capture system. Everyday 2-3 people subscribe to my newsletter and a third of you have left me your phone number and highlighted your greatest challenges.

Following up with your calls is now a breeze, somehow it completely removes the stomach churning pain of cold calling. It puts me back in the driving seat of my marketing machine and means that I can take alternative direct action while waiting for client decisions.

Running a professional services firm is not easy and when work is hard to come by it is tempting to floor your prices along the road to ruin!

However, if you can create a lead generation machine like ours, then you have a predictable deal flow, more options and that strengthens your bargaining position when agreeing prices.

Anyway, if you want to see how you can set up your own “Autopilot Lead Generation System” then check out my report:
